A surge in foreign visitors to Korea has created a strong growth base for K-Gourmet apps.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the number of foreign tourists visiting Korea in April reached 2.03 million. The monthly total topped 2 million for the second straight month, reflecting a sharp rise in domestic travel demand. That increase in visitors is fueling the growth of CatchTable Global App, operated by food-service integrated solutions company Wad.

May MAU reached 1,125,188, up 122% from a year earlier.

CatchTable said on the 9th that its CATCHTABLE Global App recorded 1,125,188 MAU in May based on Google Analytics 4 (GA4). That was about 122% higher than the same period last year. The company said the expansion in inbound tourism has translated directly into growth for the global app.

Email sign-up and Google Maps integration improve access for foreign users.

The CATCHTABLE Global App allows foreign users without a Korean phone number to sign up with an email address. It also improved accessibility by linking restaurant reservation pages from Google Maps, which is widely used by foreign visitors. The app supports gourmet travel for tourists by providing real-time translations of restaurant reviews written by domestic users. It is currently available in 20 languages, including English, Japanese, and Chinese, and offers access to more than 12,000 partner restaurants, from Michelin star venues to some of the most popular waiting-list spots.

Reservations up 71% and waiting-list use up 68%, showing stronger real-world usage.

Usage has risen beyond simple app visits. Compared with a year earlier, restaurant reservations increased 71%, while waiting-list requests rose 68%. The figures underscore CatchTable’s ability to expand globally.

Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China account for more than 80% of users.

By country, app usage was led by Japan at 29.63%, followed by Taiwan at 27.32%, Hong Kong at 13.71%, and China at 11.79%. The top four countries together accounted for more than 80% of users. The United States at 9.44% and Singapore at 8.12% also posted meaningful shares, showing that tourists from a wide range of countries are using the app.

Partnerships with KTO and the Seoul Metropolitan Government expand the tourism ecosystem.

CatchTable continues efforts to improve convenience for foreign visitors seeking Korean food experiences. It recently signed a business agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and is upgrading one-stop restaurant services through the CATCHTABLE Global App. It has also signed a separate agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to cooperate on improving the city’s tourism infrastructure.

CEO Yong Tae-soon said, "Surpassing 1 million MAU for our global app is the result of the various convenience services we provided to foreign tourists, which received a meaningful response." He added, "We will work even harder to expand and improve our global services so that every foreign visitor to Korea can download CatchTable."
