The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 13th that they signed a "business agreement for preservation management and revitalization of overseas veterans' historic sites" at the Park Jung-mo Hall of the Seoul Regional Office of Veterans Affairs.
This agreement was designed to systematically support the preservation and management of veterans' historic sites scattered overseas. The Ministry of Veterans Affairs plans to provide information on overseas veterans' historical sites to KOTRA, and KOTRA plans to support the preservation and revitalization of historical sites through local trade centers.
KOTRA plans to strengthen friendly cooperation with host countries and local companies through this project. A KOTRA official said, "It is expected to further solidify business cooperation between the two countries based on a common historical perception that they were committed to freedom with countries participating in the Korean War."
Until now, KOTRA has been conducting overseas veterans' historic sites conservation activities since March as part of social contribution activities, and encourages anyone interested in our history and culture to participate autonomously.
Kang Kyung-sung, president of KOTRA, has also been paying attention to preserving historical sites and spreading historical significance by officially visiting the Chongqing Provisional Government Building, the General Command of the Korean Liberation Army, and the Lee Jun Memorial in Amsterdam during his overseas business trip from March to April this year.
"We will use KOTRA's overseas organizational network to support projects to revitalize overseas veterans' historic sites to increase people's pride and serve as the foundation for companies' overseas expansion," CEO Kang said. "We will further contribute to expanding export performance by strengthening partnerships with overseas companies based on historical trust between countries."
As the first step in implementing the agreement, "Left Hands," an in-house KOTRA volunteer club, will also carry out volunteer activities to clean up the graveyard at the Seoul National Cemetery on the 16th. In addition, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to hold a special lecture for KOTRA executives and employees to reflect on the meaning and history of veterans in June.
