The outline of the foreign policy of Chuncheon City in the 9th popular election came out. On the 10th, Chuncheon City held a final briefing session on the "Chuncheon City International Exchange Cooperation and Mid- to Long-Term Plan Establishment Research Service for Foreign Policy" in the Central Conference Room of the City Council's annex building.

This research service was promoted to set the mid- to long-term direction of international exchange and cooperation and foreign policy to be applied from this year to 2030 and to lay the foundation for foreign residents to settle in the region and attract global talent.

Under the vision of "Chuncheon, a first-class international city that leaps with people around the world," four strategies were proposed: △ privatization of Chuncheon citizens for foreigners △ globalization of Chuncheon citizens △ transformation of first-class global cities △ support system.

Foreigners' Chuncheon Citizenship focused on strengthening housing, employment, and living support to help foreign students and residents settle in the region. In particular, a plan has been proposed to lay the groundwork for international students to find employment and settlement in local companies after graduation.

The globalization of Chuncheon citizens included enhancing citizens' international capabilities through the operation of youth public diplomacy groups and the expansion of global education. The transition to a top global city focused on enhancing city brand competitiveness and strengthening the image of an international city by linking cultural and tourism resources and international exchanges. The establishment of a support system was suggested as a strategy to establish a foundation for systematically promoting foreign support and international exchange projects, including the establishment of the tentatively named "Chuncheon Global City Center."

As of last year, 5,637 foreigners were registered in Chuncheon, up 11.6% from the previous year. Among them, 3,198 foreign students accounted for 56.7% of the total. Chuncheon City launched the service, believing that it is necessary to use foreign residents and international students as new growth resources in the region in the face of declining population and aging population.

Chuncheon City plans to comprehensively review the opinions and research results presented on this day and reflect them in the process of international exchange and foreign policy establishment in the future. "We will create an environment where foreigners can settle stably in the community and grow together with citizens," a Chuncheon city official said. "We will increase Chuncheon's competitiveness by expanding international exchange and cooperation and attracting global talents."
