On the 24th, Kyungdong Navien announced that it has started mass production of air-heat heat pump boilers at its Pyeongtaek plant. Earlier, Kyungdong Navien, which produces parts such as heat storage tanks and Hiti Hub in Korea, started production of outdoor units in Korea and established a domestic production system for the entire heat pump system.
The air heat boiler (PEM550) produced at the Pyeongtaek plant is a solution that uses electricity to transfer heat energy in the air to water and supply heating and hot water. By applying eco-friendly refrigerant R32, the Global Warming Index (GWP) has been lowered by 68% compared to existing refrigerants, and high energy efficiency of up to 5.2 or higher is implemented by heating SCOP (seasonal performance coefficient). SCOP is a heating efficiency indicator that reflects the actual use environment, and 5.2 is enough to produce more than five times the amount of electricity input.
The heating and hot water technology that Kyungdong Navien has accumulated in domestic and foreign markets is concentrated in the air heat boiler. Kyungdong Navien's integrated heating and hot water piping unit, "Navien Heati Hub," is applied to precisely control flow rates and temperatures to the level of instantaneous gas water heaters. In addition, it provided high-temperature water of up to 65℃ to implement a use experience similar to that of conventional boilers, and resolved concerns over the reproduction of Legionella by heating and supplying hot water only when necessary.
Kyungdong Navien is actively responding to the recent trend of electrification of heating and hot water as part of the realization of carbon neutrality. While Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is pushing for a heat pump supply project, Kyungdong Navien opened the Navien Heating Electrification Center in Jeju in May and launched an air-heat boiler in June. An official from Kyungdong Navien said, "We will further strengthen the integrated operating system from product supply to installation and service with the establishment of a domestic production system."
Kyungdong Navien Air Heat Pump Boiler operates as a single system with an outdoor unit that uses heat energy in the air to produce high-temperature heat, a heat storage tank that stores and utilizes it, and a controller that precisely controls flow and temperature. Kyungdong Navien produces and supplies all of them domestically. The heating pipe and each room control system of the existing boiler can be used as it is, so the installation and cost burden are not high.
Kyungdong Navien plans to establish a standard model for nationwide expansion by 2028 based on empirical data accumulated at the Navien Heating Electrification Center Jeju. It will also provide standardized installation manuals and hands-on training to agencies nationwide, operate an installation quality certification system and a professional technician training program, and strengthen the one-stop service system.
