Chungcheongnam-do conducted an emergency site inspection in the upper Geumgang River basin, which has a high frequency of water disasters in the summer on the 5th.

The upper Geumgang basin has a high frequency of water casualties over the past five years. According to the province, four people in their 20s died while playing in the water at a goose park near the upper stream of the Geumgang River in Cheonnae-ri, Jewon-myeon, Geumsan-gun, on July 9 last year. On May 30 this year, a man in his 50s who was catching marsh snails was found in cardiac arrest near the Sewol 2 Bridge in Bang-ri, Buri-myeon, Geumsan-gun.

During an on-site inspection, the province visited the area where the accident occurred, re-analyzed the cause of the accident, and diagnosed whether practical water safety measures were working.

Specifically, it checked whether risk information facilities such as accident notification and no-acquisition warning signs and banners were properly installed, the management status of life rings and life lines in lifesaving boxes, and the broadcasting facilities and CCTV operation status of water safety rules.

Hong Jong-wan, deputy governor of Chungnam-do, said, "Please refrain from obtaining dangerous areas other than designating water play management areas in the upcoming summer and actively cooperate with the guidance of on-site safety management personnel."
