11th Seoul Business Briefing Meeting
Gangwon Province has started to discover companies that will carry out medical artificial intelligence conversion (AX) demonstration tasks specialized in lung cancer treatment and patient management.
Gangwon Province will hold a business briefing session at Vivace Hall on the second floor of Yangjae L Tower in Seoul on the 11th to select detailed tasks for the Gangwon Medical AX Industry Demonstration Hub."
The core of this project is to invest a total of 45 billion won for five years from 2026 to 2030 to foster AI-based cancer-specific medical industries and establish an empirical system in connection with hospitals. In April, the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Agency was confirmed as the general operating agency.
This year, the first year of the project, lung cancer, which has a high incidence rate in Gangwon-do, was designated as a major carcinoma. With the aim of developing and demonstrating AI technology specialized in lung cancer treatment and management, companies that will carry out detailed tasks in four fields will be recruited by the 19th.
The support area is △ Cancer Treatment Assistant AX (700 million won), △ Medical Support Robotics AX (500 million won), △ Daily Management and Recovery Support Edge AX (400 million won) △ Creation of an empirical environment for cancer-specific medical AX data (900 million won). Additional points will be given to companies located in Gangwon-do or who have committed to relocating in the province during the selection evaluation.
Cancer treatment assistant AX is a technology that analyzes various types of data to explore the optimal treatment path and present it to medical staff. Treatment Support Robotics AX provides physical care to patients through robots equipped with AI and supports medical staff's work in nursing and nursing sites.
Edge AX, which supports daily management and recovery, is a technology that detects signs of cancer recurrence in daily life by using ultra-light AI devices worn by patients. The creation of a demonstration environment for cancer-specific medical AX data is a project to produce cancer data, including rare cancers, and use it for task development, and to establish a demonstration infrastructure so that the developed technology can quickly enter the clinical environment.
Selected projects will be supported for up to five years through annual performance analysis. The developed technology is planned to be applied to actual medical sites of local base hospitals such as Kangwon National University Hospital and Wonju Severance Christian Hospital to demonstrate and connect them to commercialization. Shim Won-seop, director of the Gangwon-do Industrial Bureau, said, "The cancer-specific AI technology developed through this project will not only help high industrial demand but also increase the quality and medical access of local medical services. We will actively support excellent companies and innovative technologies to be integrated in Gangwon-do."
