Merit in the Operation of Resource Circulation and Eco-friendly Programs
Lock & Lock won the Excellence Award in Climate Action and Education at the 2026 Seoul Metropolitan Government Environmental Award for its eco-friendly program operation.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government Environmental Award is an award given to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of the environmental field, marking its 30th anniversary this year. The award ceremony was held at the DDP Art Hall on the 25th.
Lock & Lock won the award for running a resource circulation and eco-friendly program with ordinary citizens.
Lock & Lock has continued various social contribution activities under the management philosophy of "a company that thinks about the environment and people." "Love for Planet," a resource circulation campaign, is a project to collect waste plastic airtight containers and upcycle them into industrial goods and public facilities, providing an opportunity for citizens to directly participate in resource circulation activities in their daily lives.
Last year, more than 2,500 individuals from 24 organizations across the country participated in the campaign. The amount of waste plastic collected so far is 13 tons (t), which is estimated to have reduced a total of more than 26 tons of greenhouse gases.
Lock & Lock conducted an environmental purification campaign in Jeju, accompanied flogging with Donghae City Hall, and also supported the environmental education campaign "Love for Youngheung" for elementary schools in the island village. Overseas, through projects to prevent desertification in Mongolia, it has contributed to ecosystem restoration and community recovery.
Ahn Sung-il, CHRO Executive Director (Chief Personnel Officer), said, "This Seoul Environmental Award is a meaningful achievement made by citizens, communities, and future generations who sympathized with and participated in the importance of resource circulation and environmental protection."
Meanwhile, Lock & Lock has also been hosting Green Mate, an eco-friendly college student supporters program for 14 years this year. The program, which marks its 14th anniversary this year, produced 460 greenmates who practice eco-friendly activities such as reducing the use of disposable products, zero waist, and flogging. At the completion ceremony held on the 25th, Lee Min-ji, a student at Hyeopseong University, who conducted the "Making My Own Lunch Box" mission, was selected as the best activist.
