The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced on the 8th that it will establish a "M.AX Standards and Certification Center" to promote standards and certification of manufacturing data, infrastructure, and solutions to accelerate the transformation of manufacturing AI (M.AX) in industrial complexes. The purpose is to solve the problem of restricting the connection of manufacturing data and the use of AI due to different facilities and solutions for each company, and to lay the foundation for spreading manufacturing AI throughout industrial complexes.
The center plans to establish a standardization and certification system for hardware such as materials, parts, and equipment used at industrial complex manufacturing sites and software such as AI solutions. It will also prepare key standards necessary for the spread of manufacturing AI, such as designing manufacturing data standards, establishing AI infrastructure linkage standards, and verifying solution suitability.
The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation plans to increase the reliability and scalability of the industrial complex manufacturing AI ecosystem by standardizing manufacturing data, infrastructure, and solutions on a common basis and verifying suitability through the center. In order to secure the center's expertise and public confidence, it plans to openly recruit external experts in the standard and certification fields as the center's head, and to gradually reinforce professional personnel with experience in operating standard design and certification systems.
In addition, it plans to cooperate with the National Institute of Technology and Standards and establish a reliable standard and certification system by utilizing the infrastructure and expertise of domestic test and certification institutions such as the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KTL), the Korea Institute of Construction and Living Environment Test (KCL), and the Korea Institute of Chemical Convergence Test (KTR). In addition, the established standard and certification system will be applied first to major projects such as AX (AI conversion) demonstration industrial complexes and carbon neutral industrial complexes, and will be expanded to industrial complexes nationwide based on operational performance.
"Manufacturing AI can spread beyond individual companies to the entire industrial complex when data, infrastructure, and solutions, which are key elements, are standardized and connected," said Sanghoon Lee, chairman of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. "We will establish a reliable standard and certification base for companies, centering on the MAX standard and certification center that actively utilizes external expertise, and accelerate manufacturing innovation in industrial complexes."
